1993 was a big year for hockey in Montreal and Patrick Roy. For the 11th time, and the first time in 18 years, Montreal hosted the NHL All-Star Game. Starting in goal for the Wales Conference was none other than Patrick Roy, a Montreal Canadien getting the chance to play an All-Star Game in front of his home crowd in his fifth of 11 career All-Star Game appearances. The Hall of Famer put on a show, recording 11 assists and allowing 0 goals in a 16-6 win over the Campbell Conference. The excitement in Montreal continued that year as the Canadiens made a run to win their 24th Stanley Cup Finals, adding to their all-time lead in the NHL. Roy set a playoff record of ten straight overtime wins, on his way to winning his second of three Conn Smythe Trophies. Montreal fans got to live every hockey fan’s dreams in the 1992-93 season and Patrick Roy is a big part of it.
